The trip is aimed at European professionals in the sector who wish to get to know the sector that produces natural resins and pine wood in southern Brazil, to strengthen ties between professionals in Brazil, the USA and Europe, and to promote innovation through the exchange of experiences. It should be remembered that Brazil has become the new international leader in natural pine resin, replacing China.

Within the framework of the SustForest Plus project, the opportunity has arisen to offer European resin industry professionals their participation in a Technical Expedition that will allow them to know the systems and conditions of resin production in southern Brazil. This Expedition includes visits to different resin production centers in Brazil, such as Grupo RB, Grupo Pinus Brasil or Resineves Agroforestal Ltd. The Expedition will include a working meeting at the Horto Forestal de Itapetininga in which officials and technicians from the Brazilian forest administration will participate and the Itapetininga Experimental Station of the Forest Institute will be visited.

The Expedition will take place from 5 to 11 October 2019 in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo, coinciding with the week of professional visits of the World Forestry Congress organized by IUFRO in Curitiva, in the Brazilian state of Paraná.

This action is aimed at professionals in the sector of natural resin products in Europe, and in particular at entrepreneurs and technical managers of producing companies, forest owners producing resins, resin workers, technical forest managers, private or public, and researchers.

At present, the Cesefor Foundation coordinates the proyecto SustForest Plus "Strategy and collaboration networks for multifunctionality, conservation and employment in the territory of southern Europe through resin extraction" (co-financed by the Interreg Sudoe Programme through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), whose objective is to establish strategies and collaboration networks for the promotion of the resin sector in southern Europe. In the context of SustForest Plus, international initiatives are also promoted to identify the best techniques and sectorial practices in order to transfer them to our productive system.
